As we come to a close on 2018, I have just been loving all the blog posts and booktube videos of everyone’s favorite books of the year. Now, it’s my turn to share with you my favorites from 2018. This was a little hard to narrow down just my top 10 because I had quite a few favorites. But here they are! (no particular order)
If you want to read any of my reviews on these books, just click on the title of the book and the link will take you to that review.
10. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
This is first on the list because I read it back in January and I remember when I finished it, I wanted to pick it back up and read it all over again. It was so amazing and I just loved all of the 80s references. I may be re-reading this one in 2019!
9. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
I read all of the Throne of Glass books (with Kingdom of Ash as an exception) back in January as well and Queen of Shadows was my favorite! Each book got better and better as I read the series but this one just had so much action and plot twists and now I need to go read Kingdom of Ash.
8. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
After reading the Grisha trilogy and not loving it, I was worried that I wouldn’t like Bardugo’s Six of Crows duology as well. I was WAY wrong! This duology is so different from her Grisha trilogy and has some amazing characters that are all so lovable in their own ways.
7. Everless by Sara Holland
This one took me by surprise. Everyone kept saying it was like the movie In Time, starring Justin Timberlake, but instead of a dystopian setting, it is fantasy and I didn’t think I’d enjoy it because that movie didn’t really make a great impression on me. But Everless, is it’s own story with it’s own twist of events and great characters and I’m so excited to read the sequel Evermore, when it comes out TOMORROW!
6. Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
A companion novel to Love & Gelato, this one was even more amazing and I loved being in Ireland for the setting of the story. It features a great sibling story with a side of romance, obviously not between the siblings, and I LOVED it!
5. The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
My favorite classic this year! I read one classic every single month and this one was definitely my favorite. I had never even heard of this book and now it’s one that I’m recommending to everyone!
4. Pax by Sara Pennypacker
I essentially bought this book because of the cover and the story reminded me of Fox and the Hound in a way, and this story totally delivered. It’s sad and cute and I highly recommend it.
3. What Light by Jay Asher
Another one that took me by surprise, and a really recent read. This story of a girl who works on her family’s Christmas tree farm and falls in love for the first time, will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit.
2. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
In January, I had 3 copies of this book before even reading it. It came in both the January OwlCrate and FairyLoot and before receiving my boxes, I purchased the Barnes and Noble copy. But after reading it, I didn’t mind having all those copies because it was amazing! I’m so excited to get back into this world when The Wicked King comes out.
1. Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
My all time favorite read of the year! And actually my favorite book of all time. Scythe is the first book in the series and it’s absolutely amazing as well and if this list was top 11 books, Scythe would definitely be on it! I wish everyone would read this series! I will MOST DEFINITELY be re-reading this series in 2019.
