My ThoughtsI went into this with a small amount of knowledge on Greek mythology. I have not read any of Rick Riordan’s books and I didn’t read that much Greek mythology growing up. I’m familiar with some of the names of the characters in this collection but I knew nothing of their pasts. But I also really really enjoyed this. It was fun and adventurous, though there were A LOT of names mentioned that, at times, it was hard to keep track of. Learning about the Greek gods and goddesses in chronological order was very nice and their stories were so intriguing, I had to find out what happened next.

The extent of my knowledge on Greek mythology is basically watching the Disney version of Hercules. But in this book Hercules is actually Heracles, which is his original Greek name. I also thought it was sort of crazy how Zeus married every single woman who had a child of his. He even goes as far as tricking them into marrying him. The death of Heracles was just devastating and unfortunate. I wish we had gotten to see Apollo more because he was more interesting to me than any of the characters. But I do plan on continuing to read more books on Greek mythology and I now have this book to thank for that.RachaelInstagramPinteresttumblrTwitter
