Wrap-Up: September 2018

Hello bookworms!
I have had a terrible non-productive reading month. FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS! I blame my reading slump, which is the first I’ve ever had. And I also blame The Darkest Minds. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first book, but the 2nd and 3rd books, Never Fade and In the Afterlight have dragged me through the thick mud. I dreaded picking both of them up and therefore spent no time reading because I never wanted to read them. But I finished four books this month, and I have Illuminae to thank for getting me out of that slump. I read 1,758 pages with 29 hours of reading. My average rating was 4.0. As always, I have reviews for all of these books, so feel free to check them out.

1. The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
Rating: 5/5 | Review

2. The Demon Race by Alexandria Warwick
Rating: 4/5 | Review

3. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Rating: 4/5 | Review

4. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken
Rating: 3/5 | Review to Come

A slow reading month, for sure, but I had some great reads. I hope that October is a better month for me in terms of quantity. How was your reading month? Did you read any new favorites? Thanks for reading!!RachaelInstagramPinteresttumblrTwitter

  1. I just adored the Darkest minds but could never get past Never Fade. I liked the new characters but there was just something missing (besides the obvious lack of Zu and Liam that is) that left me wanting more. I wanted to re-read The Darkest Minds after loving the movie – which I did – but once again Never Fade put me in a slump. I’ve put it down for now because I just don’t want to have to force myself through it. Basically – I can totally relate to your reading month! Hope October is better for you 🙂 x

  2. Lovely post! I’m sorry to see that you didn’t enjoy In the Afterlight that much! I still need to read it soon. I didn’t read many novels this month either. Hopefully, we’ll both have a more prolific October!! ❤

  3. Ooooh now I’m looking forward to Illuminae even more. It’s on my TBR for October. In September, I smashed through V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy which I just ADORED. That was definitely my highlight of the month 🙂
