Happy Top 5 Tuesday!! Today’s topic is Top 5 Science Fiction. I am a huge fan of science fiction movies but honestly, I haven’t read that many science fiction books. I’ve been slowly making my way into the genre and I’ve been loving it.
If you are not familiar, Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. She has topics for every week and if you have an idea for a topic for her, then send your suggestions her way.
1. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
This one makes it first because it’s the best! This was the only book I ever read where I wanted to open it back up and read it as soon as I was finished with it. It’s seriously so good!
2. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Is this cheating if I put the entire series? I mean I can’t recommend my favorite, which is Cress, because you need to have read the first two books before reading Cress. So yes, this entire series is amazing. They are retellings of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White and it takes place in space and on earth and it is just amazing!
3. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Now, this one I recommend but not the other two books in the series. This first book was just amazing and so well written and I hate aliens. But this is different and not at all what you would expect.
4. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
This series is what got me into YA. I read it back in 9th grade, in 2008, and I loved it so much! It introduced me to dystopian novels and a whole world that I never knew about.
5. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
I know this series isn’t for everyone but I loved it when I read it a couple of years ago. It came out around the time that The Hunger Games and Divergent were out and so many people were crazy about them that The Maze Runner wasn’t getting any of the love. But it did from me. It has an interesting story line and some great characters.
So there you have it! My Top 5 Science Fiction. I need to read more science fiction and I have so many on my TBR but I need to make more time for it. What are some of your favorite science fiction books? Thanks for reading, cya!
