It’s Tuesday! This is probably the highlight of my Tuesday’s. Honestly! I love these Top 5 Tuesday topics and this weeks topic is Top 5 Bookish Pet Peeves. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and you can check out the topics for March if you’re interested in joining.
I don’t get easily irritated but when it comes to my books, I can be very sensitive. So… yeah… I have a few bookish pet peeves. Here we go!
1. Movie Covers on Books
I own 1 book with the movie cover and my mom bought it for me. It’s Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern and I really enjoyed this book but it bugs me that I own the movie cover. Lily Collins is beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but these kinds of covers just don’t appeal to me.
2. Cover Changes Mid-Series
Why is this even a thing? I’m picky and I like my series to match so when the third book comes out from a series and it doesn’t match, I get a little upset. No. I’m just kidding. I only say “why would they do that?” and then I move on. But still. The series should match and that’s that!
3. Stickers That Don’t Come Off
Okay, so this is so annoying but I discovered a product called Goo Gone and it’s magical. I started buying a lot of my books from Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and they have these awful orange stickers on them that are so hard to get off. Like, I understand they need stickers to scan for purchase but why??? Some of the stickers ruin the book when you try to pull it off. But seriously, if you struggle with this issue, get some Goo Gone. It will save your life!
4. Keeping My Book for Longer Than Necessary
I realize that not everyone can read as fast as I can, but if I let you borrow a book a year ago and you still haven’t picked it up, please just give it back before you forget about it and lose it somewhere. It’s so frustrating that I am already bugging you and asking you if you like it all the time but then I have to kindly ask for it back because I’ve realized that you’re never going to read it.
5. Reading with Dust Jackets
I CANNOT read a hardcover book with the dust jacket and I don’t see how anyone can. It moves around constantly and then gets damaged so much. It’s so much nicer to just take it off and read it with no distractions.
I know that some of you probably do these things, and I am in no way trying to offend you. You do what you want and I’ll do what I want. These are MY bookish pet peeves and I don’t go around pointing out what bothers me to others. That’s just rude! Anyway, what are some of your bookish pet peeves? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading, cya!
