Wrap-Up: Top 10 Favorite Books of 2017

Hello readers!
I have been seeing a lot of people posting their favorite books of the year and I thought that it was a great idea. So far, I have read 121 books this year but I’m hoping to get to 124 by the end of the year. Last year I read 63 books so I definitely bumped up the reading this year and just spent more time in my books rather than watching TV and I have been so happy with it. I have never been in a reading slump (thank goodness) and when I hear what other people have to say about them, I hope that I never am in one. So here are my top 10 favorite books of 2017!

D9ED09F9-AC12-445E-BD47-75D084D555F81. Caraval by Stephanie Garber
This was my first fantasy read EVER, and I loved it so much! The world that the story is set in is magical and the characters are very likable.

I picked this book up after Caraval and it instantly became my favorite book of all time. I love Meyer’s writing! Her characters are so lovable and the world she created for Wonderland was amazing!

I didn’t have high expectations for this one but I fell in love with this Beauty and the Beast retelling.

5C095059-4053-4715-89CD-5C79D08CBF684. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
I’ve mentioned before that I never read Harry Potter growing up. My parents didn’t allow me to read or watch Harry Potter. So I finally decided to read them this summer and I LOVED them!

AACAFD51-1A12-4ADC-B6B0-5C1224B89C7A5. The Wrath & the Dawn duology by Renée Ahdieh | Review
My cousin recommended this duology to me and I’m so glad that I listened to her. I really loved these stories.

After reading Heartless, I knew I needed to read more of Meyer’s books. So of course, I looked to The Lunar Chronicles. Cress was my favorite book in the series, but Winter is a close second. I highly recommend the entire series if you are a fan of Disney, fairy tales or sci-fi.

IMG_48847. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas | Review
Before I started bookstagram and my blog, I had never heard of Sarah J. Maas. Everyone was raving about her books, so I picked up the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and I was blown away. This moved up to my favorite book of all time!

3FFD8CD8-40FD-4216-8223-6D748EA463AB8. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey | Review
This was another book that I didn’t have high expectations for and I was very surprised to like it. It is a alien invasion on Earth and I hate aliens but this book was GREAT! I will say that I was disappointed with books 2 and 3 but I recommend reading the 1st book.

A2BDEB71-9701-40C0-BC22-AD0C624146639. Turtles All the Way Down by John Green | Review
My cousin recommended that I read The Fault In Our Stars and I really liked it. I didn’t love it but it was enjoyable. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read anymore John Green but one of my favorite booktubers was recommending it, so I caved. I’m so glad I did! This book was so great and in my opinion way better than The Fault In Our Stars.

Now, this book isn’t pictured in the book stack because I lent it to my mom but that’s how AMAZING it is. I also bought another copy as a Christmas present for someone and I hope they love it too. It’s definitely my favorite thriller of all time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my top 10 favorite books of 2017. What were some of your favorites?

  1. I’m not normally a huge John Green fan either, but I might have to read ‘Turtles All the Way Down’ now!! I’ve seen it everywhere and I keep debating 🙂 thank you for sharing! xx

  2. I read 11 books this year. Three of them were classics: Oliver Twist, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and A Christmas Carol. I read one mystery, two fantasies, two nonfiction stories and a book about the history of musicals. So I read more books than I usually but I could have read more than 11 books, but it is at least
