Top 5 Tuesday: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest

Hello bookworms! Today I bring you yet another Top 5 Tuesday. The creator of this tag is the lovely Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. Go check out her awesome blog and all her fun posts and join in on the fun of Top 5 Tuesday. This weeks prompt is Top 5 books that have been on my TBR the longest. I have a HUGE TBR, so this may seem easy but it will be a little difficult determining which ones have been there the longest. So here we go!!

1. The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
I’ve wanted to read this since high school and I still haven’t. BUT it is on my TBR for the month of December, so fingers crossed that I can get to it this time.
2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I know… everyone and their mother has read this book but me. Everyone loves it. Maybe I can try to squeeze it in my December TBR as well.
3. Wild by Cheryl Strayed
This was one of the first books I purchased last year in 2016 and I still haven’t read it. I’ve seen the movie and I quite enjoyed it. The book looks small but the writing is small as well, so maybe it’s intimidating to me.
4. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
I have no idea why I never read these in high school or even after high school. I’m a HUGE fan of the movies and I saw all of them in theaters. It’s definitely about time that I read the books.
5. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
I’ve had this book since high school. So why haven’t I read it, you ask? Well that’s a good question and I don’t have a good enough answer. I haven’t seen the movie. Shameful I know…

So there you have it. My top 5 books that have been on my TBR the longest. What are some of yours? Have you read any that I listed? I hope you enjoyed reading. Have a great day!

  1. This is such a cool little thing for blogging, it’s always a joy to read what everyone can come up with for Top 5 Tuesday! Also, did you see that I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award? I think that you might’ve missed that, so I wanted to let you know. 🙂

  2. Great list! I haven’t read the Lord of the Rings yet either……… oops! I’m not sure that I’ll read it either. I want to but I just don’t know! Wild is another one that I’ve been really curious about. If I was to suggest that you get to just one book on this list ASAP it’s The Book Thief! That’s one of my all time favourites!!!!
Thanks so much for participating 🙂 adding you to the list!

  3. I got the Hobbit my freshman year of college, and then got all of the other books for Christmas that year. It took me a while to actually finish LOTR, because the writing is so difficult to read if you’re not used to it (it’s very dense, compared to The Hobbit). It’s a fantastic series but requires quite a time commitment!

My mother LOVED The Book Thief, and she even got my sister and I hardback collectible versions of it for Christmas one year! I recently had to go buy another “everyday” copy because my original paperback version has disappeared somewhere…

Wild is a great book. I read it a few years ago after a breakup and it was just what I needed. It really started my thirst for hiking.

Now…Twilight… I’m just gonna stay away from commenting anything about this one…
