Tag: Music Book Tag

Hello bookworms! It has been a while since I did a tag and Emma @ Thoughts of a Brown Eyed Girl has kindly tagged me to do the Music Book Tag. It just so happens that music plays a huge role in my life. I can’t play any instruments or sing but I love discovering new artists and bands. So here we go!!

Link back to Bookchanted for being the creator of the tag.
Use the graphics if you want.
Tag at least four other people.
Have fun!

Ed Sheeran (an adorable book that left you feeling warm and fuzzy)
I’ll be honest, I only know Ed Sheeran’s popular songs that come on the radio. It’s not that I don’t think he has a good voice but his music isn’t really anything special to me. The book I choose for this is The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. This is one of my favorite contemporaries and it is absolutely adorable.

Taylor Swift (a book with way too much drama to keep track of)
Now, Taylor Swift is someone I LOVE. I especially love her as a pop artist. Her country music was more like pop anyway and I think her 1989 album was amazing! The book I choose for this is The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. I thought this book was just okay. I read it last year when it was released and I found the family drama to be annoying and not entertaining.

Zayn Malik (the broody mysterious character you totally fell for)
I know who Zayn Malik is, but I do not know any of his songs. Well, besides the song he did with Taylor Swift for the Fifty Shades soundtrack, but I hated that song. For this one, I choose Julian from Caraval by Stephanie Garber. Julian is one of my favorite male characters and he was very mysterious. I kept questioning if he was good or bad.

Jelena (Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez) (a ship you really wanted but it never sailed)
Actually, I have been seeing that these two are hanging out again. I’m a huge Selena Gomez fan but not the biggest Justin Bieber fan. I definitely wanted to see Lucien and Elain from the ACOTAR series get together. But who knows, maybe they will. We just have to wait and see what Sarah J. Maas does with the characters.

Fall Out Boy (a series that kept getting better and better)
I listened to Fall Out Boy a lot through my punk/emo stage in middle school. But I don’t really listen to any of their new stuff. A series that just kept getting better was definitely The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I just read the entire series a couple of months ago and I fell in love with the story and the characters.

Halsey/Demi Lovato (a kickbutt female character you really admire)
A few years ago Halsey and Demi Lovato would have been considered two of my favorite singers, but now I could care less. I don’t like the direction Demi Lovato took after her her album Demi and the same goes for Halsey. I enjoyed her first album but not really anything after that. I really think that Feyre is a kickbutt character from the ACOTAR series. She grows a lot as a character and the actions scenes with her, are awesome.IMG_4884

One Direction (the romantic, cheesy and cliche book you couldn’t help but love)
I didn’t grow up listening to One Direction. I grew up with The Jonas Brothers. One Direction became popular after I had already graduated high school. But I do like some of their music. Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum is the one of my favorite contemporaries and it is definitely cheesy but so adorable.IMG_5092

Adele (a book that delivers a really powerful message)
Adele is another wildly popular artist that I do not care for. Her voice is nice but I’m just not a fan of her music. For this one, I choose Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. I just finished reading this and I loved it! It really shows readers what goes on in the mind of someone who has OCD.IMG_5165

Miley Cyrus (a book/series that exceeded your expectations)
I loved Miley Cyrus, then I didn’t and now I think she’s okay. Her new album has some solid tracks on it. I choose The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey on this one. But not the entire series. Just the first book. I didn’t think I would like this because it’s about an alien invasion and I’m absolutely terrified of aliens but I loved this book.3FFD8CD8-40FD-4216-8223-6D748EA463AB

Katy Perry (a book/series that didn’t live up to the hype)
I don’t like Katy Perry. Her music is not any different than your typical pop music and in my opinion every album she puts out is worse than the last. I always give the same answer when asked this because I was SO disappointed. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver… I don’t say this often but the movie was a lot better than the book.IMG_4463

I tag:

You obviously are not obligated to do this tag just because I tag you, and if I didn’t tag you and you would like to do it, then you are officially tagged as well. Have fun and thanks for reading!

  1. Lovely answers for a lovely tag, Rachael! Thank you for the shout-out to my blog. 😊 I’m glad that you loved The Lunar Chronicles so much, because I really need to get around to reading that. It definitely sounds like a lot of fun.

Thanks so much for doing the tag, and I hope you had fun!

  2. Thanks for the tag, also great answers, Feyre is kick ass. Lucien and Elain should happen, and I also agree with you on Katy Perry’s music, to be honest I don’t listen to a lot of the mainstream music. As for One Direction, sadly they were very big when I was at secondary school, and I didn’t care for them one bit.

      1. Genre wise I’m a weird one, I love rock, heavy metal, pop, country. I love songs which tell a story, meaning a lot of the stuff I like is ‘old’ and not many ppl in my age group actually know who they are. There’s one boyband I’m obsessed and they’re new and upcoming. A few bands/artists: Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Meat Loaf. To name a few haha, also P!NK love her stuff.
